Sometimes someone says something really small
and it fits right into this empty place in your heart.
We get bored with the routine and crave beauty and excitement.
Fire is beautiful and we know that if we get too close it will kill us.
But what does that matter?
It is better to be happy for a moment and
be burned up with beauty
than to live a long time and be bored all the while.
Tragedy, sadness, loneliness and despair taught me
that life is really a beautiful thing; if it wasn't
I wouldn't be able to recognize that anything was wrong
No, life cannot be understood flat on a page.
It has to be lived; a person has to get out of his head,
has to fall in love, has to memorize poems,
has to jump off bridges into rivers,
has to stand in an empty desert and whisper sonnets under his breath...
We get one story, you and I, and one story alone.
Your mistakes do not define you now
and tell you who you're not
you've got to live this life
like it's the only one you've got
because it is.
Don't hide your madness.
Never let go of hope.
One day you will see that it all has finally come together.
What you have always wished for has finally come to be.
You will look back and laugh at what has passed
and you will ask yourself... 'How did I get through all of that?
The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.
The most important thing to remember is this:
to be ready at any moment to give up what you are for what you might become.
